179mm zoom lens, 1/25, f/5.6, ISO 400. The zoom lens allows for such detailed closeups without getting too close to the subject. Catchlight, in the eye of the blue-tongued skink, always adds energy to a photo.
50 mm, 1/45, f/2.5, ISO 800. Higher ISO and longer shutter speeds allow for indoor photography without a flash. 1/45 is a fairly slow shutter speed, so I'm glad Dug stayed still.
50mm, 1/250, f/5.6, ISO 100. We're watching Abraham while his owner is on vacation. He loves to chase and retrieve his little squeaker toy. He is very focused!
85mm, 1/500, f/4.0, ISO 100. Similar to Abraham above, Dustin loves to chase and retrieve. In the winter, we use a frisbee as it's harder to lose in the snow. We use a tennis ball in the summer with a chucker to gain extra throwing distance. At times, we think Dustin loves to retrieve more than eat!
The use of a back flash added a partial silhouette and highlighted the snow in the air.
It took four people to get this photo! One to throw the frisbee, another to throw snow in the air at just the right moment, three to hold the soft box flash and finally the photographer. Oftentimes, photography can be quite the team effort.
