85mm, 1.0, f/9.5, ISO 100. Experimenting with motion blur. J's light saber moved through this arc during the one second shutter opening. Used a spot light just to highlight the model's face. A little more fun is added to the photo by J not smiling and the assistant being in the frame.
85mm, 1/250, f/11 ISO 100. Using a higher f stop increased the depth-of-field but since it was such a sunny day, a fast shutter speed was still needed. B & A were great models at scenic Alyeska.
85mm, 1/750, f/4.5, ISO 100. If I was shooting "wide-open" (very low f number) the shutter speed on this very bright subject would have been much higher. Love the energy and color of this wide-body taking off from Ted Stevens.
55mm, 1/80, f/5.6, ISO 400. Sometimes, black and white is better. It blurs reality just a little, making for a more dramatic photo. Our cat, Dug, is very sociable--wherever we are, there he is.
85mm, 1/350, f/1.8,ISO 100 I wanted the focus of this shot to be solely on the owner of Midnight Sun Cakery as she decorates an elopement cake. The low f stop provides for great bokeh and the backlight puts all the focus on the cake decorator as she finishes her artwork.
1/160, f/3.5, ISO 800 The sun shining on the Midnight Sun Cakery owner/baker! Photography is a dance between exposure and composition; and no, a great camera cannot help with composition.
300mm, 1/1000, f/5.6, ISO 200. Love the halo around the Alaska Air 737 as it comes to land at Ted Stevens on May 24, 2026. Sometimes, hard mechanical things can have a beauty of their own. The same goes for the Atlas Air 747 cargo (above) landing just before. Although the 747 was so big, I zoomed out to 200mm.
